The Call for The Leadership Company
|
The Leadership Company is dedicated to helping individuals, organizations, communities, and
our country understand and integrate responsible leadership at all levels. We believe that everyone has the potential for
leadership and that individual fulfillment and organizational survival hinge on the ability to tap this potential. We fulfill
this mission through coaching, training, education, consulting and research into both the nature of responsible leadership
and the methods by which it is most effectively developed.
Leaders are developed, not born. Few of us use more than 10 to 15 percent of our potential in our lifetime. The keys to unlocking
this potential are the development of:
- Core leadership skills
- A positive and inquisitive outlook
- A positive and inspiring vision for one’s future
- A goal setting regimen to practice the skills and realize the
vision.
Historically, institutions have attempted to teach leadership by providing skills training (e.g., communication, delegation,
conflict resolution). While training can be helpful, The Leadership Company sets itself apart by working individually with
clients in a coaching capacity to develop targeted skills, a positive outlook, a personal vision for one’s life and
goal setting techniques.
A curriculum is developed to match client
needs.
- Data is gathered to understand the
client’s natural leadership style,
long-term goals and skill base.
- Self-assessment instruments, such as
the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI),
provide insight into one’s natural
leadership style
- Visioning exercises are used to help
clients clarify their long-term goals
- Feedback from supervisors, peers and
direct reports and on-the-job
observations by a coach help to inventory
their skill base.
- Clients meet individually with a coach
to review the data and develop personal
goals for the program
- When working with more than one
individual at a time, customized workshops
offer opportunities to learn through
personal and shared experiences (e.g., role
playing), discussion with and teaching
others.
- “Homework” assigned by the
coach/facilitator encourages practice in
using the concepts in everyday life
- At the end of the process, clients meet
individually with the coach to establish
concrete, measurable goals to ensure their
future leadership development.
- Pre-and post -program evaluations
provide opportunities for reflection and
further learning.
- Follow-up assessments – six months and
one year after completion – reinforce the
concepts.
